No ‘Sidstock’ but the Real Thing’s at Xmas

Cali-R promoter Sid Hudson is shrugging off the disappointment of cancelling his open air summer event and planning ahead for a bumper Christmas bash.

“I was looking forward to staging what a lot of people have jokingly called ‘Sidstock’ at Luton Rugby Club in June, but sadly there were unforeseen circumstances that meant I had to cancel the event, fortunately at a reasonably early stage,” he said.

“My main concern is that people who have bought tickets should be refunded as quickly as possible. People who bought online should have been contacted by now but if they haven’t been they should email sidcali-r.com for their refund.

“Customers who bought their tickets at Luton Rugby Club or Vinyl Revelations should ring 07889 786153, and if you bought them at any other outlet, please return them to where purchase took place for your refund.

“For me now, the next stage is a great Christmas special, and I’ve already booked the Real Thing, who are always popular, with additional support from Hitsville, The Sound Of Motown, who were such a big hit at last year’s open air show. They were due to appear at this year’s, so I’ve made sure they are lined up for the Christmas show.”

After Saturday’s soul night at Flitwick, featuring George Anthony, there is now the usual break until September 7, when Sid takes Cali-R back to Barton Village Hall. In the meantime, he has had the provisional go-ahead to stage some future events at an additional Cali-R venue.

Sid added: “I can’t say where yet, but I’m cautiously optimistic that we will be able to book this particular venue. Hopefully, another door opens!”
