The Hoo Kids Book Fest is hosting two special events on Wednesday July 29.

Families can join author Steve Antony from midday to 1pm. Since his first picture book debuted in 2014, Steve has become one of the hottest talent around – his first book, The Queen’s Hat, has been shortlisted for the Waterstones Book Prize and has just won the Evening Standard’s Oscar’s First Book Prize.

Learn to draw a panda who loves good manners – and doughnuts – read stories together and get a sneak peek of Steve’s next book, The Queen’s Handbag.

And anyone who has wanted to explore the world of the Harry Potter books can visit the “Professor of Potter” and his plucky assistant as they bring to life the characters, creatures, spells and adventures from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The session called “Boy. Wizard. Hero. Celebrating the Harry Potter Books” runs from 2pm to 3pm and promises to be a fun and interactive event for all the family, whether new to the books or a dedicated fan. Certificates and postcards are available for all who attend.

There will also be art activities, fun and entertainment, with artist Vanessa Stone cutting up materials and involving children in a spectacular creation, local illustrator Livi Gosling, who loves creating amazing maps, Professor Pango Mango, the Wandering Poet, food and drink and more.
