See re-creation of the Great Train Robbery at railway show

Hundreds of train enthusiasts will be making tracks to Bedfordshire this weekend to see an acclaimed model railway static display which has recreated a scene from the infamous Great Train Robbery.

The diorama has been built by members of Luton Model Railway Club to depict the events of August 8, 1963 when a gang of robbers stopped a Royal Mail train at Bridego Railway Bridge, Ledburn.

A spokesman said: “The events of 50 years ago have always has some interest for us. We do not condone the actions of the event, but it is a fact that the Great Train Robbery has become a part of the national consciousness for many people over a certain age. It was agreed that with the level of interest in the run up to the 50th anniversary, portraying the scene as it unfolded would make an interesting display.”
