Thrilling and funny night out at theatre with classic comedy-mystery Deathtrap

With more twists and turns than a rickety rollercoaster, comedy-thriller Deathtrap speeds into The Grove Theatre on Friday.

Deathtrap is a juicy, action-packed production, perfect for murder mystery fans and those who like a good chuckle.

The story follows playwright Sidney Bruhl, who is struggling having not had a smash hit for many years.

He receives in the post a new thriller written by an unknown dramatist, Clifford Anderson, for his comment.

A sneaky Sidney sees his chance, and with the help of his reluctant wife Myra, plots to plagiarise Deathtrap and pass it off as his own.

However, when Cliffod turns up at Sidney’s house to discuss the play, events take a sinister turn.

I don’t want to give too much away, but the play is certainly not what it seems.

Presented by Talking Scarlet, the production stars Stephen Beckett, (Mike Jarvis from The Bill)as Sidney Bruhl, Jo Castleton as his wife Myra and Griffin Stevens as Clifford Anderson, supported by Claire Vousden and John Hester.

Deathtrap is the longest-running comedy-thriller on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play. It was opened in 1978 and is written by Ira Levin.
