Cineworld in Luton has just celebrated its 15th birthday – and to celebrate the Luton News and Dunstable Gazette has teamed up with the multiplex to offer readers the chance to win a pair of tickets to a movie of their choice.

We’ve eight pairs up for grabs and with great movies like Gravity, the second instalments of The Hunger Games and The Hobbit, plus Disney’s Frozen hitting screens either now or in the near future, we know it’s a prize you’ll want to win.

General manager Daisy Johnson, who has worked at the cinema since it opened in 1998, said: “I started as a staff member and then progressed through the ranks to general manager. The first movie shown at Luton was Mulan and we even had the mayor of Luton come to the opening gala night.

“Over the years the cinema experience has changed dramatically, but only for those of us behind the scenes. Hopefully for the customer the cinema experience has remained the same.

“I think the biggest change has definitely been the installation of digital projectors, as this has made the picture and sound a much better quality.

“The introduction of 3D movies has also come about since I have been at Luton and it has enhanced the experience especially for movies such as Avatar, Iron Man, Avengers etc. Over the years we probably have had in excess of 500 staff working for us and we still have two members who have been here since it all started.”
