Chris Amoo, Dave Smith, Kenny Davis and Ray Lake formed the original line-up, but the boys had to wait another three years – and the addition of Eddie Amoo to the band – before they went to No 1 with You To Me Are Everything. The rest is history!

Since those early days the band have released 24 singles, of which 16 have made the charts, including Can’t Get By Without You, Let’s Go Disco and Can You Feel The Force?

Eddie’s career actually dates back to the early ‘60s when he was a member of a Liverpool soul vocal group called The Chants. They never made the charts but one of their backing groups was The Beatles! These days the line-up has slimmed down to the trio of the Amoo Brothers and Dave Smith.

Promoter Sid Hudson said: “I’ve had them here several times and they always prove a really big hit. I’m also delighted to have Hitsville The Sound Of Motown as support. They were fantastic when they headlined the open-air Cali-R last year. As usual, there’ll be surprises and prizes, and a happy hour from 7.30 until 9, as well as Jellybean and Louie Martin looking after the funk in the upstairs room.”

Then the Cali-R New Year’s Eve Party swings into action at Dunstable Conference Centre, High Street North, Dunstable, with Sid’s much loved blend of Tamla, soul and reggae.
