Alexander and Co: Commercial and Industrial has confimed the sale of the former Methodist Chapel in Heath and Reach near Leighton Buzzard.

A spokesman for the Dunstable-based agency said: “Whilst the development market remains flat, properties offering an interesting angle are still sought after and deals are being done.”

He added that the chapel presented an extremely rare opportunity to acquire the freehold of an outstanding property in a sought-after village and drew interest from numerous investors, developers and owner-occupiers.

The property currently has two entrance halls leading to a large open plan chapel and feature galleried landing.

Extending to a total of 3,968 sq ft (368.66 sq m) this striking and prominent building includes a number of attractive features typical of chapels 
built in the Victorian era.

The purchaser, a local developer, has recently submitted a planning application for conversion to a single dwelling.
