Phone App is set to answer law questions

Joom Apps is run by solicior Attiq Malik, 32, of Millfield Road and freelance web consultant Ovais Ahmed, 29, of Kent Road.

Joom Apps specialises in the development and marketing of Apps for mobile devices.

They have recently created a law app called iJail which is aimed not only at legal professionals and students but also the everyday person.

Mr Malik said: “As a criminal lawyer I am often asked two questions. Firstly, how do I get out of this? And secondly, what am I looking at?

“iJail can answer both of these questions from a mobile phone.”

Mr Malik adds that he believes the App is a milestone as the legal profession has a reputation for living in the ‘stone age’ and not talking in plain English.

He added: “The App illustrates that the law is something that can be easily accessible and understood by ordinary people and illustrates to the legal profession the benefits of embracing the technological evolution of marketing and networking.”

iJail helps a person understand what actions constitute as a criminal offence and what factors make it worse or better for a person charged with an offence when it comes to sentencing. It also outlines what sentence a person can expect for a given offence.

Joom aims to develop Apps for local and national businesses as marketing tools for them to showcase their products and services.

Apps can be used by businesses as a means of marketing and keeping their current and potential client base up to date with their services, offers and products. 

From the customer’s point of view, it’s all about convenience and instant access to services offered by a business.

The development of the new App has given the two directors an insight into how big the gap in the market is for law-based and business-based Apps.
