The Principal of a local primary school has described last week’s SAT’s results as “fantastic”.

Rebekah Howe, Principal of The Vale Academy, said: “I am so incredibly proud of this set of results. We far exceed the national average on every single score, and that is wonderful. It reflects the incredibly hard work our staff and our children have put in”.

The Vale Academy, on Wilbury Drive in Dunstable, achieved the following percentage of pupils meeting the new expected standard:

>Reading, writing and Mathematics: 73.9% (national average 53%)

>Reading: 82.6% (national average 66%)

>Writing: 87% (national average 74%)

>Mathematics: 95.7% (national average 70%)

>Grammar, punctuation and spelling: 89.1% (national average 72%)

Ms Howe added: “There’s such a lovely, feel-good atmosphere around The Vale and these results will really enhance that.

“ As we come to the end of the school year, I know that we will do so on an incredible high and I’m already really excited about what we can look forward to achieving next year”.

The Vale Academy is part of the Shared Learning Trust, a family of four schools in the Luton and Dunstable area.
