Cancer patients urged to do more exercise

PHYSICAL activity can help prevent long term health problems, according to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The charity has launched The Cancer and Physical Activity Pilot in conjunction with the Luton & Dunstable NHS Trust and Active Luton.

The project encourages people living with cancer to be active during and after treatment.

Each patient on the scheme has a health assessment and different activities are recommended, such as walking or taking part in yoga, zumba or swimming.

This can reduce the impact of side effects like fatigue, muscle-wasting, depression and anxiety.
