The town suffered "a very rapid rise" in infections after Christmas, according to director of public health Lucy Hubber (see here).

However, daily figures have gradually started to reduce over the past five days.

This week has seen 563 fewer infections overall (-27.3%) and the latest breakdown data shows a reduction in every ward of Luton, with only Kingsway maintaining a case rate of over 1,000.
