Coronavirus latest: Five new cases in Luton in past 24 hours

Five new instances of coronavirus have been confirmed in Luton over the past 24 hours, according to Public Health England.

The total number of infections in the borough now stands at 1,562 (+5).

Yesterday (Thursday) also saw five new cases emerge in the town, while seven new infections were confirmed on Wednesday.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 1,270 (+0) cases while Bedford's figure stands at 1,345 (+5).

Across the country, there have been 303,181 infections at an increase of 880 over the past 24 hours.

46,119 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, up by 120 since yesterday.
