Coronavirus latest: Seven new cases in Luton brings total to 824

Seven new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Luton, according to figures from Public Health England.

The total number of cases in the borough now stands at 824.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 739 (+10) cases while Bedford's figure has risen to 774 (+2).

There have been no new coronavirus-related deaths reported at Luton & Dunstable Hospital today.

NHS England figures show 274 people with the disease have died at the L&D as of 5pm on Wednesday, June 17.

Across the country, there have been 303,110 infections at an increase of 1,295 over the past 24 hours.

A total of 42,589 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, up by 128 since yesterday.

The government is due to unveil plans over the two-metre social distancing rule this week.

Spain has also said that it will allow British tourists to enter the country without a two-week quarantine.
