The public has been warned to dispose of personal protective equipment (PPE) sensibly after several items were dumped in the street in Luton

The discarded equipment poses a threat to both the general public and council litter crews forced to collect the items.
It follows a series of incidents around the country where people have dumped used PPE at the roadside.

Hide AdA Luton Borough Council spokesman said: "There have been cases of disposable gloves and face masks being thrown away in the street.
"These may be contaminated with Covid-19 which poses a threat to people, including collection crews picking them up.
"Please dispose properly of used protective equipment safely."
