Neighbouring Central Bedfordshire has 190 (+17) cases and Bedford stands at 139 (+4).

Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has reported 51 virus-related deaths since the pandemic began.

A temporary mortuary is being prepared at RAF Henlow to help relieve the L&D and other nearby hospitals over the Bank Holiday weekend.

David Kirby, medical director at Luton & Dunstable Hospital & clinical lead for coronavirus, told ITV News last week: "The only thing that can fix this belongs to the general public and that's stay at home, do not spread it, do not be the person who gives it to someone else.

"Stay at home, stay safe, save lives."

Nearby Watford General Hospital declared a state of emergency on Saturday and requested patients to attend A&E units in other hospitals, with only women giving birth admitted to hospital.
