A new dawn is emerging for a pub in Toddington as it brings back ‘big’ jazz band music.

The Angel was once a hub of live music, with former landlord Keith Baldwin rehearsing a big band and also running a small jazz combo called Hot Toddy back in the pub’s heyday around 20 years ago.

Now, with new landlady Sarah Witts at the helm, big band music is back and The New Ambassadors will be appearing at The Angel on Sunday, February 8 from 12noon.

Band member Paul Mayoll is pleased to be helping to bring the Angel back to its roots. He said: “People would come from miles around as the pub was the hub for the jazz and big band community at the time.

“If the event is a success, I will contact my friends who are band leaders with the view of making The Angel a home for jazz and big bands again.”
