Cinderella’s not so happy ever after

IF you’ve ever wondered what happens to fairytale heros and heroines after their happily ever after ending, this is the play for you.

The cynical among you might think these sorts of happy endings are too good to be true, and director Richard Haxwell seems inclined to agree as he lets his imagination and alternative humour run wild in this Griffin Players’ production of Cinderella II: The second coming.

The adult pantomime sees Cinders (Kate Johnson) and her Prince Charming (Luke Murphy) struggling to make ends meet following their wedding.

While they try to deal with their financial woes, the ugly step-sisters are plotting revenge on the younger and prettier sibling.

Dandini, Buttons and the Hairy Godfather are on hand to help out, but it remains to be seen if things will get any better for poor Cinderella.

John O’Leary, Tim Hayden and Richard Alexander star in the hilarious production, making you laugh, groan and grimace at what happens next.

Music for the alternative fairytale is provided by talented local musician James Driver in his first show as Musical Director for the Griffins.
