Dive in to mysterious Aqua–town

A LUTON-based theatre company are inviting audiences to be transported into the wonderful world of Aqua–town, Luton’s best (and only) aquarium.

Waterproof is a one-woman original production, telling the fishy tale of Laura (Eva Sampson), her goldfish Toby and her memories of the dilapidated building and a doomed romance.

Written by Luton-born Teresa Burns, the exciting performance will take place in a mystery location just minutes from The Hat Factory in Luton, which the audience will be guided to by ushers.

It’s a really special and imaginative theatrical event, which received rave reviews from the Edinburgh Festival in August last year.

Co-director and writer Teresa said: “It’s quite an ambitious idea, but the reception in Edinburgh was fantastic and it got people talking about Luton which was really cool. We thought, we really have to bring this home to Luton now. Luton Borough Council and The Hat Factory both helped us to find a suitable location.”

Teresa studied at Cardinal Newman Catholic School and Luton Sixth Form College before reading drama at the University of Birmingham, and finds Luton very inspirational for her work.

She said: “Everything I have written to date has been about Luton. It’s a really interesting place to write about. Waterproof is a very imaginative production and Eva really brings it to life. The secret location makes it very intimate with a good atmosphere.”
