The Dunstable theatre is looking for a talented performer to play the part of Dick Whittington in this year’s spectaculor production.

You’ll be cast alongside soap legends Ryan Moloney, aka Toadfish in Neighbours, and Leslie Grantham, famous for playing Dirty Den in Eastenders.

They will be playing the roles of Idle Jack and King Rat, but they need a Dick Whittington to complete the line-up.

Anyone over the age of 16 can audition for the part, even with no previous acting experience, and the winner will be offered a paid contract and a chance to take to the stage in the lead role.

Just like TV talent shows, every nail-biting, hair-raising moment will be broadcast online, so even if you’re not a performer, you can watch the auditions, keep up to date and root for your favourite contestant.

Auditions start on Sunday at the Grove Theatre, followed by more open auditions at Pineapple Dance Studios in London on Monday.

A panel of judges will pick the best of the bunch to return to a ‘bootcamp’ style audition, with acting and singing ability tested in a day-long workshop on Saturday September 21.

Eight finalists will then be chosen for the live grand final on Thursday September 26.

Each performer will be mentored by professionals from the industry and given vocal and performance training before appearing in a full staged live concert at The Grove Theatre.

If dancing is more your thing, you can also enter the open dance auditions on Sunday September 15, from 9.30am - 4pm at The Grove Theatre.
