Oh boy, Buddy’s hits are at Grove

Get ready to rock and roll to the rhythms of Buddy Holly and swing to the classic sounds of Motown at the Grove Theatre later this month.

Thursday November 29 sees Buddy Holly – A Legend Reborn at the Grove for one night only, with all the hits from the artist’s short but stellar career.

Special guest in the show is original 60s icon Jess Conrad, who was discovered on legendary early Sixties TV show Oh Boy!, and topped the charts with his singles Mystery Girl, Cherry Pie and This Pullover, going on to forge a successful career on the silver screen and the West End stage.

A distinguished list of world-famous recording artists came second best to Jess on the show, including Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, Joe Brown, Adam Faith and Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran.

Buddy Holly – A Legend Reborn stars Marc Robinson, the UK’s number one Buddy. The live production brings to life classic hits such as Peggy Sue, That’ll be the Day and Oh Boy.

Backed by a band reminiscent of the Crickets in their Fifties heyday, Buddy Holly – A Legend Reborn promises an authentic slice of rock ’n’ roll nostalgia that ensures Buddy’s incredible legacy of unforgettable hit songs lives on.

Music fans are in for another treat on Friday November 20, when the Magic of Motown comes to the Grove.

Celebrating 50 years of number one hits, the show features 36 massive chart-toppers from The Supremes, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves, Lionel Richie and more.

An all-star cast, a talented live band that faithfully reproduces Motown’s original Detroit sound, 16 sparkling costume changes and tightly choreographed dance routines saw the show attract glowing reviews last year.

“Sixties classics give way to present-day masterpieces from Lionel Richie and Diana Ross,” says producer Michael Taylor.

“Sadly, many of the original Motown legends are either no longer with us or longer touring.

“The Magic of Motown is the nearest you’ll get to authentically capturing their incredible musical legacy in a live show.

“Our young cast is able to reflect the exuberance and excitement of these songs as they were originally performed.”

Tickets for Magic of Motown are £24 and £21.50 concessions.
