St George on parade

PATRIOTIC people celebrated St George’s Day in style at the weekend, with festivities taking place in St George’s Square, Luton, Wrest Park in Silsoe and at pubs around Luton including the Ashcroft Arms and The Parrot.

In St George’s Square, revellers enjoyed folk-dancing, story-telling, Punch and Judy and a medieval combat re–enactment.

At Wrest Park, celebrations lasted throughout the weekend, with medieval jousting, games for all the family from all eras of history, and cookery demonstrations of a selection of historical food from a Pharaohs’ banquet of Ancient Egypt to the decadent Victorian tea table.
