Around 40,000 homes and businesses in Luton are set to get better internet connectivity after Openreach announced plans to upgrade broadband in the town.

The new full fibre broadband plans are ‘once-in-a-generation’, which Openreach says will allow thousands of people to connect multiple devices to their wifi.

Openreach described the new broadband as ‘more reliable, resilient, and future-proof connectivity’. The upgrade would mean internet speeds are more consistent and predictable.

Kieran Wines, Openreach’s regional director for the area, said: “We’re reaching more communities than ever and our team of highly skilled engineers, alongside our build partners, are working hard to deliver some of the fastest and most reliable broadband available.”

The company says that fibre is more reliable and less prone to faults, compared with than traditional copper. To find out when full fibre is available at a specific address, visit the Openreach website for updates, and to check when services are available.
