Travel group raises money for little Lilly

LITTLE Lilly has been given a boost in her fight against cancer by holiday companies Thomson and First Choice.

Two-year-oldLilly McGlashan’s uncle, Emlyn Protheroe, works as a Thomson Airways engineer in the Luton Hanger, and he organised activities which raised £13,000 from his colleagues.

The Dunstable tot is now in remission after pioneering treatment in the US, but she requires ongoing care to ensure the cancer does not return.

Mr Protheroe said: “It’s fantastic that all my colleagues have really supported this cause and I am really proud. Lilly is such a loveable little girl and we want to continue raising enough money for her treatment in the US to give her the best possible chance of a long and healthy future. I want to express my thanks on behalf of my family to those who have donated to the appeal so far.”

The treatment for Neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer that Lilly was diagnosed with when she was just six weeks old, is only available in the US.

Fundraising in the local area raised an initial £300,000 for Lilly’s treatment.
