Tree planting in special year

CHILDREN at Warden Hill Junior were visited by the Vince Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire to help them plant Jubilee trees.

Professor Les Ebdon CBE DL gave a talk about the role of the monarchy to the pupils before planting the commorative oak tree.

The visit was part of Professor Ebdon’s work as Bedfordshire’s Deputy Lieutenant, to help promote the UK’s hosting of the Olympics and celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Professor Ebdon said: “2012 will be a year that school children will remember for the rest of their lives. The young people I’ve met seem genuinely interested in understanding the role of the monarchy in our country celebrating this year.”
