'˜Bags of Help' for Surrey Street School

Little learners at Surrey Street Primary School in Luton are buzzing with excitement after being accepted for the Tesco '˜Bags of Help' community award.

Customers at stores taking part in the scheme will be given a token with every transaction to vote for their preferred community project over a nine day period starting on Saturday (February 27).

Three grants will be available ranging from £12,000 for first past the post to £10,000 for the second and £8,000 for the third.

School PA Trish Cook said: “If we win, the idea is to build a fantastic outdoor classroom which will include a food preparation area and cooking facilities.

“The project will enhance our successful ‘Growing Together’ garden programme. We already have a beautiful area in front of the school where the children are actively encouraged to plant, grow and care for their own fruit and vegetables and a magical hidden seated area within our woods for outdoor learning and adventures.”
