Firefighters were called to a bus on fire in Houghton Regis on Wednesday morning.
Officers arrived at the scene just before 8:30am and found the rear engine of a bus on fire, there were no casualties.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue sent two fire engines from Dunstable Community Fire Station to the High Street, near Morrisons.
They arrived at the scene within four minutes.
A spokesperson for Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “When they arrived officers found the rear engine of a bus on fire.
“They used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
“Police closed the road during the incident.
“The fire service involvement was over by 8:40am.”
