Busway ‘good for the town’

LUTON chartered surveyor Chris Harkin – a regular on popular BBC1 consumer programme The Cowboy Trap – says he’s tired of all the negative comments about the Luton Dunstable Busway.

The former Challney Boys pupil, who’s been working for both council and contractors on the £89 million project, said: “I’m pleased to be involved with it.

“It will be a real boon, offering a reliable alternative to routes already heavily congested with traffic.

“It will also provide for future development in the area.”

He added: “Luton and Dunstable have always been forward-thinking.

“Luton in particular continually renews itself – since the demise of the hat trade, we’ve always come up with new ventures.

“The busway is simply another example.”

Chris, 41, said he was aware that in the current economic climate, it was natural to be hesitant.

“But you’ve got to see its potential,” he claimed. “It demonstrates that Luton is a dynamic place to do business.”

According to a council spokeswoman work should be completed by April 2013.
