Controversial housing plan submitted over Christmas

Plans to build 300 homes on a green space next to Linslade moved one step forward after developers submitted a planning application to Aylesbury Vale District Council just before Christmas.

The Valley Farm site off Derwent Road in west Linslade has been a battleground between developers Paul Newman and Linslade townspeople for several years.

In 2012, an application to build 900 homes on the site was rejected amid widespread opposition.

Now, the developers are back with revised plans for 300 homes for the site.

But some locals have criticised the company for submitting the application just before Christmas.

Linslade man Colin Lawrence said: “They have submitted it this week, during holiday time. Coincidental isn’t it?

“For us, these plans would make living in Leighton Buzzard even more competitive for space than it already is.”

Residents have until Tuesday January 20 to contact Aylesbury Vale District Council with their comments.
