Appeal after taxi driver attacked

Police are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was robbed in Luton on Saturday (27 February).

The taxi driver picked up a fare in Hillborough Crescent and when he arrived at Wedgewood Road at around 3.45am he was assaulted before the offender took money from the front of the car and made off.

The offender is described as a mixed race man with a bead, wearing a black hoodie and black tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Mandy Godfree, investigating, said: “We’re working hard to tackle robberies across the force and incidents like this, which has left the driver understandably shaken, will not be tolerated. We would like to speak to anyone with information that could help us find the man responsible or if anyone saw anything suspicious in Hillborough Cresent or Wedgewood Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.”
