Exclusive: Armed police called as '˜shotgun' is fired at Luton home

Armed police were called to an address in Luton this morning after a firearm was used to shoot at a home.

A window was blasted out at the property on Summerfield Road, while the front door to the home also shows significant pellet damage.

A shotgun cartridge was recovered at the scene.

No injuries have been reported and East of England Ambulance Service has confirmed that it was not called to the incident.

One resident told the Luton News that he was woken by the sound of gunfire at around 5am.

He said: “I could hear the glass breaking and when I got up I could see a car going down the wrong side of the one way system.

“The police turned up about two minutes later.”

He added that it was fourth time in a year the address had been shot at.

The resident said: “You can still see glass everywhere...it doesn’t make me feel safe at all.”

A Beds Police spokesperson told the Luton News: “We were called at approximately 4.55am this morning (Monday) to reports of shots being fired at an address in Summerfield Road, Luton.

“We appreciate that incidents such as this are unsettling for the community, however we would like to reassure them that we are committed to finding the individuals responsible and ensuring they cannot carry out further such attacks.

“No-one was injured during the incident and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 42 of today’s date.”
