Five people from Luton were arrested after an outrageous punch-up at a wedding – that left one man unconscious and another thrown in a river.
Gloucestershire Police were called to the wedding reception at The Swan Hotel in Bibury, Wiltshire, on March 17 after reports of a major fight.
Upon arriving in Bibury – described on its website as “a charming village in the Cotswolds” – police found a chaotic brawl said to have involved 20 people.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: “Just after 7.30pm on Saturday 11 March, we received reports that a fight involving about 20 people at a wedding party had broken out in the bar at The Swan in Bibury.
“We were told that one person had been knocked unconscious, furniture was being hurled about and someone had been thrown in the river.
“Officers from Cirencester, Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucester, Stroud and Swindon were called to the scene.
“Three men - two local and one from Luton - were treated by paramedics for various injuries, including head wounds and broken teeth.
“Four men, aged 21, 22, 27 and 55, and a 53-year-old woman, all from Luton in Bedfordshire, were arrested on suspicion of affray, taken to cells, and following interviews the next day, given police bail.”
