At Northampton Crown Court yesterday (October 21), Kennedy Lucas, from Luton, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving over the incident.

But she and her partner, Vinny Guess, from Hougton Regis - who appeared alongside 23-year-old Lucas - were also charged with perverting the cause of justice for acts in the days following Miss Hamilton's death.

It is alleged after the incident, Lucas swapped seats with Guess, 28, who then drove the Volkswagen away from the scene.

It is also alleged that Kennedy then denied knowledge of the car when questioned by police, and attempted to hide the keys.

Both were charged with causing death by driving a vehicle. Lucas is also charged with being unlicensed at the time.

The two defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges. They were remanded on bail and will stand trial on February 8, 2021.
