‘Malicious hate campaign’ against mother in village

A single mother has taken drastic action after suffering an eight-month campaign of harassment and around £3k of criminal damage to her car in Toddington.

Anne Smith, 40, of Park Road, installed her own CCTV in order to find out who was repeatedly and deliberately damaging her car.

The mum-of-one believes she has identified the perpetrator, but police are yet to press charges.

Anne said: “This person has carried out an eight-month malicious hate campaign against me. I had to get CCTV in to find out who was doing this as it was only getting worse and I was very worried for me and my young son.”

The vandal superglued the car lock, broke the wipers, and bent or snapped them every time they were replaced, and repeatedly scratched the car.

Anne said: “It would mainly happen on a Sunday and CCTV shows someone going to get papers and scratching my car on the way back. The damage to window wipers happened at night time. I have never had an argument with them. The only time I have ever spoken to them is when they asked ‘Is that your car?’ They live down the road from me and I do not park anywhere near them.”

A Beds Police spokesman said that although a person has been spoken to in relation to this case, no arrests or charges have yet been made.
