Don’t make your jubilee event rubbish!

JUBILEE parties need not mean messy streets and more waste going to landfill, says Central Bedfordshire Council.

The council’s waste services team has issued tips to help revellers cut down on waste, whether at private or public events.

> Try to use re-usable cups, plates, cutlery and tablecloths, and make food rather than buying pre-packed goods;

> Try and make the right amount of food to avoid waste, and do your best to re-use leftovers:

> Recycle as much as you can, and place recycling bins somewhere visible so that others remember to recycle.

Councillor Brian Spurr said: “This is an historic occasion and residents may be planning either a private or street party to celebrate. We would encourage them to remember to reduce, re-use and recycle as much as possible at their events, however big or small.”
