Dunstable put on a show this week to impress the Anglia on Bloom judges.
The judges were given a guided tour on Wednesday by the Promoting Dunstable ‘hardy annuals’, Hugh Garrod, Ann Sparrow, Mary Chapman and Sarah Woodruff, with John Crawley from Dunstable Town Council.
Anglia in Bloom judges Sue Hacon and Bob Ivisonexamined the gardens, parks and community projects that make up Dunstable’s entry into the 2015 competition.
The town tour started at Weatherfield Academy, where pupils showed off their work, followed by the Lowther Road shops, Ashton Square and the High Street floral displays, Middle Row, Grove Corner with a display of floral barrows and then onto Grove Gardens with a live radio interview on Three Counties Radio.
It was then on to Court Drive and the Woodside Industrial Estate followed by Incredible Edible,.
Judges then went to The Paddocks, Blows Down and then ending at Priory Gardens and Physic Border.
The Town Mayor Cllr. Liz Jones was on hand to invite the Judges and the Promoting Dunstable in Bloom Team for light refreshments and closing remarks and speeches.
The results of the Anglia in Bloom judging will be announced on Thursday September 17 at the Wodson Park Centre in Ware.
Last year the town won a silver gilt in the large town (12,000 to 35,000 residents) category.
