Dunstable takeaway reaches the finals of The British Takeaway Awards
Owners of a Turkish takeaway in Dunstable have made the finals of The British Takeaway Awards 2018.
Brothers Orhan and Zak Gurbuz, who opened Irmak BBQ, in High Street North, in 2016, will be heading to London for the finals next month.
The awards are about recognising the small and often family run businesses that serve the nation’s takeaways.
Orhan said: “It’s amazing once again to represent Dunstable where the Best Takeaways in the UK challenge for the award.
“It shows how much effort and hard work we put in to work. I would like to thank every one for supporting and voting for us.”
Each of the finalists will be marked on a mystery shop and provide a written submission on why they deserve to win.
A panel of judges, including restaurant industry innovator and businesswoman, former star of BBC2 Dragon’s Den Sarah Willingham and UK Managing Director of Just Eat Graham Corfield, will review the results and identify the 12 regional winners and the overall victor for Best Takeaway in Britain.
Graham Corfield said: “Making it to the list of the top five takeaways in the South East is a great achievement as it means customers believe they are providing great food and excellent customer service.
“With competition at such a high, it’s going to be a difficult choice picking a worthy winner.“
Zak added: “We have fantastic people in our team who worked hard to make this dream come true and also amazing customers who never stopped supporting us.
“We hope to bring the Regional award to Dunstable and we also are up to win The Best Takeaway in Britian too.”
