Dunstable woman Sarah strikes gold running Olympic sports website

A woman from Dunstable who had no interest in sport has found herself running one of the world’s top sports websites.

Sarah Bowron, 49, is managing director of award-winning Dunsar Media, which publishes several sports news websites, including insidethe

Sarah said: “If you would have told me all those years ago that I would be running one of the best sports websites in the world I would have laughed at you!”

“I have worked in many different areas but my main background is in musical theatre.

“It just shows you that life can take you in many different and unexpected directions.”

After attending school at Kensworth Lower, Ashton Middle and Manshead Upper, Sarah worked for three years at C&A in Luton and appeared in several productions at Luton Library Theatre and the Little Theatre in Dunstable.

She joined Dunsar Media after meeting husband Duncan Mackay, who is the group’s founder and editor.

She said: “It’s a massive achievement seeing the online traffic grow from just a few thousand people. Whenever there is breaking news we are there.

“At the moment I’ve got two reporters in Papua New Guinea and two in Toronto, we do our work globally running a live blog.”

Sarah frequently travels around the world, most recently to Baku, Azerbaijan, for the first European Games.

Dunsar’s Media’s performance has made them the leading publication following Olympic sports.

In 2012 the company was named the third most influential Olympic website in the world by social media analyst website Klout.
