In February, the airline unveiled an ambitious scheme for a bespoke new head office in Luton (see here) which the firm said would enable high quality jobs and opportunities.

The proposed new building was tipped to be built on an old car parking site at Vauxhall Way, with building work scheduled this autumn if planning permission was approved.

Today, an easyJet spokesman said: "Due to the impact of the pandemic and the need to minimise all capital expenditure, easyJet has decided to pause its proposed move to a new head office location in Luton.

"We continue to utilise our existing buildings within the Luton Airport area."
