The settlement known as 'Linmere' has reached a new milestone as plans for its 'Area Masterplan 3' (AMP3) were submitted to Central Bedfordshire Council last week.

This third phase will deliver up to 1,200 new homes alongside new parks, open space, shops and community facilities, a primary school, a hotel and a pub on site.

Linmere is located north of the Houghton Brook, with the Woodside Link to the east, the Kingsland Campus to the north west and a planning application (not part of Linmere) to the west.

Most of the houses will be between two-and-a-half and three storeys high, with a landmark building of five storeys at the the gateway approach from Woodside and Sundon Link.

The Houghton Regis Management Consortium (HRMC) is developing the housing scheme, and hosted a series of online consultations throughout July and August last year.

Nigel Reid, Development Director of HRMC said: “We would like to thank residents who took the time to give their feedback and engage on the AMP3 virtual consultation during these challenging times.

"The feedback has been used to help shape the proposals further and we are delighted to submit an application for AMP3. We look forward to progressing these proposals.”

Once completed, Linmere will deliver 5,150 homes of a wide variety, as well as three new primary schools, retail, leisure and entertainment offerings, along with job opportunities.

The Farmstead, a new centre and community hub at the heart of the development, is due to open in 2021
