Kauser Parveen, of Bishopscote Road, failed to check that the man who knocked at her door last October had the correct waste carrier’s licence.

That meant that instead of her rubbish being disposed of properly, the mixed household waste, garden furniture and black bags ended up being dumped in The Bottoms, near Harlington.

Following an investigation by officers from Central Bedfordshire Council, the waste was traced back to Parveen.

At Luton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday last week, Parveen pleaded guilty to failing to take all reasonable measures to ensure that her household waste was transferred to an authorised person (under Section 34(2A) and (6) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990).

She was fined £750, ordered to pay costs of £554.50 and a victim surcharge of £75 – a total of £1,379.50.
