Food business has recipe for success after relocation

Harpers Food were last week presented with a Silver CPRE Award by the Campaign For Rural England, which recognised their work in renovating a derelict pub, the Half Moon at Pepperstock, to become their new premises.

Harpers are also on the shortlist for Customer Service Excellence and Bedfordshire Business Of The Year in the Bedfordshire Business Excellence Awards and the East Of England Business Awards for 2014.

They have also reached the finals for Long-standing Business in the Bedfordshire Business Excellence Awards.

Harpers, who have been trading since 1947, are a speciality food shop, butchers and caterers and also have a function room and coffee shop, which has proved a hit with local people who now have somewhere to meet.

Owner Peter Harper said: “This recognises all the hard work the team here have put into serving our customers.”

The award winners are due to be announced in November.
