So it was only right and fitting that when friends and family gathered to celebrate his life, they should do so on a walk over his beloved Warden Hills.

A collection raised £300 to add to the trust fund created in his memory by the charity. It now stands at more than £5,000 and the money will be used for projects tackling the lack of opportunities for women in the local area, an initiative Mark started before being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

His widow Sheila said: “I am very proud of everything Mark accomplished during his lifetime and I know he would have been truly humbled by the amazing amount of money raised in his memory.

“This will ensure Mark’s legacy continues in the community he loved for many years to come.”
