Gang of burglars hit five houses in Luton and Dunstable

A gang of armed burglars targeted five homes over a terrifying two-hour spree in Luton and Dunstable last night (April 4).

The houses were all broken into by a group of men driving a dark grey or silver estate vehicle believed to be an Audi or BMW.

The first burglary was reported at 8.14pm from a property in Elden Road, Luton.

Three offenders – one armed with an iron bar – forced open the front door and entered the property but did not take anything.

At 8.27pm, officers were called to Allenby Avenue, Dunstable, after two men claiming to be police officers tried to force their way into the home of anelderly victim before fleeing in the car, which is also believed to have tinted windows.

Two minutes later a call came in from another elderly victim in Jeans Way, Dunstable, after three men armed with a pick axe handle and a baseball bat forced their way into his home.

After threatening the victim the men left with a handbag containing keys, a purse and bank cards.

The next was reported at 9.04pm when three men were seen leaving a house in Bullpond Lane, Dunstable. They had entered the property through a back door and took a handbag and jewellery box, which were found nearby.

A final burglary was reported at 10pm from a property in Tring Road, Dunstable.

The homeowner returned to find a window smashed and a number of items of jewellery were

taken.
