Green Aiders – run by community charity Groundwork Luton & Bedfordshire – is a free one-off gardening service for older (65 plus) and disabled people who aren’t able to tackle the job themselves.

From this month, they’ll be digging deep in 155 gardens across the county. The work will be carried out by Groundwork staff and a team of local volunteers – most of whom are public-spirited adults with learning difficulties.

Bedfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner has awarded funding to the project, as has Luton Borough Council.
