H&P’s Connie and Richard go to WAR

THE Warrior Adrenaline Race will take place on Dunstable Downs on Saturday, April 14, and two Herald&Post reporters are taking on the challenge.

Connie Primmer and Richard Redman (pictured) will be joining hundreds of other would–be warriors in the tough army–style Regiment Fitness event.

There are attack obstacles, hills and lots of mud round the 5k and 10k courses for participants to contend with, and it’s all to raise money for Help The Heroes.

Connie said: “I’m probably the furthest from a warrior you can get and I haven’t taken part in a race since my Year 7 sports day, but I’ll do my best to make it round the course. Help The Heroes is a fantastic cause, well worth getting a bit muddy for, and I’m hoping with some intense training over the next few weeks I might at least finish the race. If I get the wooden spoon for coming last I’ll still be happy.”

Regiment Fitness run military-style training sessions across Herts, Beds and Bucks, including in Luton, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard, and Connie and Richard will be trying out some sessions in the run-up to the event.

Richard said: “I’m only used to light training for football once a week, so training with Regiment Fitness for this event will be tough. Also, the 6am runs and gruelling weights work I’ll be doing in my own time will be worth it to raise money for Help For Heroes and to rub Connie’s face in it when I beat her – hopefully literally as it will be so muddy.”

Entry is £22 in advance, £35 on the day, which includes a goody bag and event T-shirt.

Race registration opens 8am, race starts 10am.
