Ian to run marathon for Putteridge Swimming Club's disabled swimmers
Vehicle after sales executive Ian Dickson, 41, of Stopsley said: “I’ve raised money for a number of charities but this is personal for me.
“I’ve always wanted to do the London Marathon and what this club has done to integrate disabled young swimmers into the mainstream is a wonderful example of what can be achieved – it brings a lump to my throat.”

Hide AdIan – who’s taken on the role of welfare officer at the club – added: “I’ve been lucky to see it grow and become one of Bedfordshire’s highest performing clubs, and in particular how its development of disabled swimmers has helped turn them into regional and national prospects.
“But more importantly, I’ve seen firsthand how swimming has helped enhance and improve the lives of young disabled children.
“Some will never see competition but it enables them to take part in a fun activity and gives their parents some respite.”
He hopes to raise £1,000 to support the operation and development of the disability element of the club’s activities.
