Steve – who grew up on Farley Hill, went to Luton Sixth Form College and now runs an artist management company – said: “We really need to get behind this exciting initiative. Let’s engage and make it work.

“There’s so much national and international talent appearing at different events – it’s a major coup for the town. Get tickets, come along and let’s put Luton firmly on the cultural map.”

He added: “Saturday (March 19) is The Beat Day, which will be presented by Jeff Towns, until recently president of the Dylan Thomas Society.

“And on Sunday (March 20) award-winning Scottish poet Don Paterson is presenting an evaluation of Shakespeare’s sonnets - an absolute must for anyone studying the Bard.”

Poet Mona Arshi is appearing on April 2, as is popular TV personality Cerys Matthews who will be leading a family sing-along.
