Many people don’t have the time to telephone or write to change their appointment and there are many valid reasons for missing an appointment. But not turning up wastes money and hospital resources and makes waiting lists longer.

The holiday season means more people fail to turn up, sometimes forgetting about their hospital appointment until they have gone on holiday. But now, patients could be lying on a beach and use a smart phone to inform the hospital that they can’t make their appointment.
