Lest we forget - Remembrance services

Members of the armed forces and their families, together with VIPs and ordinary people will be out in force on Sunday to honour the memory of the fallen.

In Luton there will be a parade from Park Street West to the Town Hall War Memorial.

A two minute silence will be observed at 11am, after which Royal British Legion Luton branch president Don Woodcraft will recite the Kohima epitaph. The Mayor of Luton, Cllr Syd Knight, will lay the first wreath, followed by representatives from ex-service and uniformed organisations.

There will also be a service at Leagrave Memorial at 10.30am.

In Dunstable, a parade of ex-service personnel and uniformed organisations will assemble in Grove House Gardens at 10.15am.

They will march via High Street North to High Street South, and on to the War Memorial in Priory Gardens.

Dunstable mayor Cllr Patricia Staples will take the salute at Priory House. The Act of Remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony takes place at the memorial at 11am. A short Remembrance service will then be held in Priory Church.

In Houghton Regis, a Remembrance service will be held at All Saints Parish Church at 10am, followed by an Act of Remembrance at the Memorial Stone on The Green at 11am.

There will be a service at Stopsley Memorial at 10.45am on Monday.
