Love those Marmite shares

Popular theory has it that people either love or hate Marmite. But as far as Luton's King's School headmaster Dr Andrew Cook is concerned, it's definitely the former.

Last months shares in Marmite producer Unilever soared as a result of a takeover bid by US manufacturer Kraft Heinz and Dr Cook was faced with a dilemma: Should he sell the school’s investment portfolio shares in the Anglo Dutch food giant?

“We had a quick decision to make,” he said. And at the 11th hour, he and his advisers decided to sell their entire holdings, netting a profit large enough to make a significant contribution to the cost of the school’s new library project.

Kraft later abandoned the takeover bid and Unilever shares plunged in value.
